Businesses do not happen overnight. The idea for them may start one night. But you usually hear a common story for those ideas that did develop into something successful. “My business is successful with time, effort, making mistakes and implementing what I learned from those mistakes.” Wealthy Affiliate is a platform that you can use to build your own online businesses.

Learn how to be Online Marketer with Wealthy Affiliate

I personally use Wealthy Affiliate. I’m here to set clear expectations of what Wealthy Affiliate is and what Wealthy Affiliate is not.

Four things Wealthy Affiliate is not are:

  1. Get Rich Quick Scam
  2. Just Training
  3. Cheap website hosting
  4. Free forever

1. Wealthy Affiliate is Not A Get Rich Quick Scam

If you invest the time to go through the step by step training, you will learn different ways you can achieve success online. Many folks have already achieved success with Wealthy Affiliate. You can achieve success too with Wealthy Affiliate, but it does take time.

Once you are going through the Wealthy Affiliate training courses, you will learn to plan for 6 – 12 months to get your website ranked in Google. This ranking and time authority build up can help generate traffic which can generate revenue opportunities.

If you are looking for a get rich quick scam, Wealthy Affiliate is not for you.

2. Wealthy Affiliate is Not Just A Training Site

Udemy

Udemy and Lynda are both well known online training platforms.

On Udemy, you buy individual courses on any topic of interest. On Lynda, you buy a monthly subscription to access all available courses. You can find topics on anything and everything including digital marketing, project management, design, finance, organization and so on.

If you can think of it, you can learn more about it on Udemy and Lynda. This is where Udemy and Lynda excel. They are dedicated online training sites that offer a wide variety of learning topics, all in one place.

The one thing to keep in mind is that Udemy and Lynda only offer training. They focus on making it easy for:

  • Any expert or wanna be an expert, to create a training course
  • Promote the course and earn money from the course
  • So you can find a course that interests you
  • You buy the individual course or monthly membership access to the course
  • Go through the course and learn about that topic

If you need support, there is usually a way to contact the course instructor and/or post a comment with the course community.

Let’s use “How to Build WordPress websites” as an example.

If you take a course from Udemy or Lynda to learn “How to build WordPress websites“, the course will teach you how to use WordPress. However, you will have to find a separate company to host your WordPress website on the internet for you, outside of Udemy. In addition to separate training and a separate website hosting company, you will also have to find a separate network community to leverage for questions, ideas, and support.

This is what makes Wealthy Affiliate different from Udemy or Lynda. Wealthy Affiliate makes it easy for you to learn how to build a WordPress website, actually launch that WordPress website and connect with a network of hundreds of thousands of other members, all in one place.

Not only will you learn with Wealthy Affiliate, you will also build and network with Wealthy Affiliate. It’s very convenient!

If you are looking for a training only website, Wealthy Affiliate is not for you.

3. Wealthy Affiliate is Not Just A Cheap Website Hosting Service Provider

If you want to have a website, you need a web hosting service. This is a service provided by companies who make your website accessible on the World Wide Web (www). These companies essentially connect to the internet and sell the service to people like you, for your websites which are your online brands and businesses.

Wealthy Affiliate is more than just a WordPress website hosting service with quality hosting features. Wealthy Affiliate offers many services all in one place, including web hosting. When compared to other quality hosting companies, Wealthy Affiliate is very competitive with their web hosting features and services. When the training courses and network support are added, there really is no comparison.

If you are expert in internet marketing and just looking for cheap website hosting service, Wealthy Affiliate may not be the right choice for you.

If you are just looking for cheap hosting, simply google “best website hosting”. Google will give you over 14 million suggested results. If that search is too overwhelming (it was for me), then search for “best website hosting 2017” or “best WordPress hosting 2017”. PC Mag.com offers a list that seems to pretty close to what other web hosting experts recommend.

If that process is still overwhelming (it was for me), then choose Wealthy Affiliate.

That’s what I did and I haven’t looked back. Since then, I have launched two websites, including this one.

Choosing Wealthy Affiliate for my website hosting, training and support community is one of the best decisions I made in 2017.

If you are looking for website hosting only service, Wealthy Affiliate is not for you.

4. Wealthy Affiliate is Not Free Forever

I hate to burst anyone’s free bubble. You simply cannot build a business for free, completely without any cost. At some point, you will absolutely have to invest some money and time into your business to make money back with your business. Even if you are able to start with a free option or trial, at some point, you are going to have to invest money to get money in return.

Don’t get me wrong. Wealthy Affiliate does have a free starter membership. And you should definitely try it out. It is completely risk free. No credit card required. No time limit or expiration for your free account. Your free starter account is forever free. I totally started out for free!

But if you go in with the mindset that you’ll never need to pay anything, that’s the wrong mindset. In order to maximize the value of Wealthy Affiliate and leverage your full potential to develop any potential of building a presence online with your new skills, you will need the premium membership features. The starter membership will give you starter access and paying for premium will give you more features, more training and more support.

Even brownies are not free

Let’s look at selling brownies as an example.

Say, you wanted to sell brownies to your neighbors to make some extra money. In order to sell those brownies, you have to buy everything you need to make those brownies, bake those brownies and package those brownies up to sell.

Let’s look at the estimated cost to make these brownies:

$5.68 Brownie Mix

  • Brownie Mix 1.25
  • Vegetable Oil 1.47
  • Eggs 2.96

$15 Baking Supplies

  • Measuring Cup 2.02
  • Pan 7.99
  • Bowl 4.99

$2.50 Packing Supplies

  • Ziplock bags 2.50

Estimated Total Cost: $23.18

Serving size: 18

If you sell these brownies for $1 per serving x 18 for a total of $18 and you invest you $23.18, you will be at a net loss of $5.18. However, for your next batch of brownies, you will not need the baking equipment and packing supplies. So if you just spent $5.68 on the brownie mix for the second batch and sold them for $1 per serving x 18 for a total of $18, you’ll profit $12.32. This scenario doesn’t include your time baking the brownies which would be accounted for in a professional situation. But you get the idea…

You can not make brownies for free. But you can try out Wealthy Affiliate for free. And someday, pay to create your brands online to make money through various ad, affiliate or service options you have.

Brownie Price Disclaimer:
These prices are completely estimated and not warranted. Perhaps you can find these items cheaper than what I have listed here. Regardless, the goal was just to show you an example of how you have to spend money to make money.

If you don’t want to invest in yourself and your online brands, Wealthy Affiliate is not for you.
